F.A.Q.
Q? How do I know I need a new roof?
A: You see leaks on the inside of your home or in the attic, discolorations and edges of the roof that curl.
Look for stains inside your home around ceiling and curls in the photo below
Q? What things cause a roof to wear faster?
A: Environment effects, intense heat and lack of ventilation in your attic. See ventilation options.
Look for Decay of shingles,
sheathing or siding
Q? How often do I need a new roof?
A: It depends on the environment and the area you live in. If you live in an area where you get a lot of precipitation you may have more wear. Also, higher temperatures can make your shingles wear faster.
Q? We replaced our roof 15 years ago with a roof rated 25 years and we will have to replace it soon. Why does the rating say 25 years if it won’t last that long?
A: Years ago when the rating was done, it was based on pounds. The shingles were thicker and heavier. So, they lasted longer. You can use this as a guide:
Wood - Cedar Shake, Slate, Asphalt, Metal and Ceramic Tile (found in many southwestern themes)
First, consider your style of home. Second, consider the material you want to use. Third, consider the wear you want to get (how many years you want your roof to protect your home). Ask our consultants to help you with this.
