What Will You Use to Heat?
First consider how you will use the fireplace?
Will this be a major source of heat used regularly?
What kind of fuel do you have locally? Is it propane or natural gas?
Second consider your lifestyle. Busy families need warmth and relaxation in a hurry and they don’t want to be tied to the home all day.
Wood Burning
Many people feel that you can’t beat the look and feel of a real wood fire. The flames tend to draw you in and mesmerize you. While this is a wonderful way to heat, you won’t want to leave your wood burner unattended for long periods.
Can be costly if you do not have access to reasonably priced wood or a strong son-in-law.
Natural Gas and Propane
Definitely the more popular of the systems simply because of the simplicity and the safety.
The remote does the work. Turn it on and you have heat. Turn it off and it’s off. The gas shuts off automatically. A programmable thermostat can help you heat your entire home when you’re not there. Very efficient in heating other areas of your home. The fireplace systems today offer a very realistic look and feel of a wood fire.
